Cherished Moments

  • Family First

Mark was able to spend quality time with his five children and their spouses. During his decade-long battle, he welcomed nine more grandchildren into the family, adding to the ten already cherished. He also spent time traveling extensively with his wife, Ane. These moments of joy and togetherness created a strong, loving family bond that will be treasured forever.

  • Life's Milestones

Thanks to his treatment, Mark was able to celebrate significant milestones that once seemed impossible. One of the most cherished moments was dancing with his daughter on her wedding day, a joyous occasion they never thought he would live to experience. This moment, filled with love and gratitude, symbolized the triumphs and precious memories made possible through his battle with cancer.

  • Lead On

Mark mentored his sons in leadership as they took over the reins of the successful company he and his business partner created in 2004. His guidance was instrumental in ensuring the business continued to thrive. One of the most impactful moments was when Mark shared one of the company’s key values, Enriching life through meaningful CONNECTION, in a video he narrated.

Passion Projects

After his diagnosis, Mark turned his passion for design and his love of gardening to creating a backyard paradise, which included play structures and zip lines!

Memories Across Miles

Thanks to his treatment, Mark was able to travel extensively, creating countless sweet memories with his wife, Ane. Their journeys together took them to breathtaking destinations, where they experienced new cultures, enjoyed beautiful landscapes, and shared countless adventures. These cherished moments, filled with love and exploration, were made possible by the additional time treatment gave him, allowing them to build a rich tapestry of memories that will live on forever.

A Life of Service

Mark served in the Lake Oswego, Oregon Stake Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 12 years, being released just 4 months before his passing. He loved ministering to others and touched many lives during this time, inspiring people to be even better leaders, parents, and friends. He cherished every moment as a beautiful and precious gift.

The Gift of Time

None of these incredible moments would have been possible without therapies developed through cancer research at Providence Cancer Institute. He benefited from targeted therapy, various immunotherapy drugs, and participated in several clinical trials. These treatments save lives and give the most precious gift of all—time.

Although Mark passed away in February 2022 and did not get the cure he hoped for, he received the gift of much more time — 10 years to spend with family and friends!
